Giant-Visa card holders to get rebates on purchases

Kuala Lumpur: Giant-Citibank credit card users will get a two percent rebate on purchases at Giant stores nationwide and up to one percent on all other everyday purchases outside Giant.GCH Retail (M) Sdn Bhd chief operating officer, Tom Herriot, said the rebates were over and above Giant's low prices."Other benefits include special member prices and further discounts for cardholders. Customers will definitely save on their daily grocery bills whenever they use their card," he told reporters after the launch of the co-brand credit card here Thursday.GCH Retail is the owner of Giant.
He said the company aimed to sign up 50,000 card users for the first three months of the launch."Our 107 stores now serve eight million customers a month and we expect many of them to sign up for this card, which makes it even cheaper to shop at Giant," he said.Meanwhile, Citibank Bhd's business director(cards/personal loans), Vipin Agrawal, said the partnership with Giant was in line with the bank's regional strategy of establishing and promoting co-brand partnerships with market leaders.
"The Giant-Citibank credit card has no annual fees for the first year and offers a 10 percent rebate for first purchase on cards applied before July 15 and made before Aug 31."There is no minimum spending level required to earn rebates and the maximum rebate cap is RM600 per annum," he said.-Bernama
